First Litter Cleanup

The First Fort Sanders Community cleanup was a HUGE success. The clean up was held April 6th. We started just before 10am and lasted until 3pm. Then about 30 of us went to SAWYER'S for a FREE lunch. The total numbers for volunteers was 103 people for over 265 hours. We filled over 225 bags of trash including everything from tires to A/C units. All I heard from residents was thanks and praise for all the volunteers hard work. They were amazed at how many people showed up. The next cleanup will only get better. Now that I have gotten some experience under my belt, I can plan for a bigger and better cleanup for later this year.

First Pole Patrol

The First Pole Patrol was also a great success. It was held April 14th and although only five of us participated, we acomplished our goal of cleaning up The Strip. We removed the flyers and signs off the poles and collected a few bags of trash. Afterwards, SMOOTHIE KING treated us to a snack. We also recieved a few honks and thumbs up in support of our efforts. Thanks Cheryl,Don, Nick, and Nilton for giving up your Sunday afternoon.

Mini Cleanup

We heald a mini cleanup in May with a few of Dr. McKinney's students. We worked for about 2 hours and got a dirty alley way all clean.

The cleanup on July 14th was a great cleanup. The 25 volunteers collected around 45 bags of trash.
